TLE and weather changes

Tue, 10/08/2013 - 21:49
Hey does anyone have temporal lobe epilepsy and have trouble with seizures around certain times of the year. I havent been diagnosed with epilepsy for very long and recently have started having a significant amount of seizures and I wasnt sure if maybe this time of year just isnt good for me. Last year around this time of year was when things got really bad for me and months later I was diagnosed but have been told I have had epilepsy for many years. Just wanting other people opinions, Thanks!

I am stressed but I am stressed because of health issues. The stress didnt really start to bother me until the last week maybe 2 weeks. about 4-6 weeks ago I started having a lot of headaches and seizures and each day about a month they continued to get worse. I could not get into my neuro so I only spoke to the nurse (Im sure you know how that works) they only continued to up my meds and gave me migraine meds. The migraine meds did not work at all and my epilepsy seizure meds didnt seem to help either because I continued to have seizures. Eventually it was brought to my attention by a friend that 4 weeks earlier I had hit my head pretty hard on concrete and that my symptoms sounded like a concussion. ( Thats a whole other story) I got a ct scan everything came back normal luckily saw my neuro and all he did was change my meds. I guess I am a little confused because since I was diagnosed in January of this year for the most part medicine has been able to control my seizures pretty well until now. My neurologist didnt really say anthing about it but wanting to change my meds. I think I am going to get a second opinion but wanted some opinions of others on here. Thanks!!

Maybe you've built up a resistance to your meds? I had that problem with Tegretol. Not sure if you're on one or more than one.  Not sure if you're still having simple seizures...remembering everything that happened. (Sounds like you've could have been having them for years before you were diagnosed).

They may be the hardest to reduce with meds. Could there be a clinic near you to explain the problem?
