High Keppra Dose

Wed, 06/28/2006 - 19:21
I saw my neuro monday and she really thinks that my dosage of Keppra should be increased from 3000mg to 4000mg. I noticed that this is a Very high dose and just wanted to see if anyone is on this high of a dosage and if so any differences in taking a dose SOOO high? My neuro said that ppl take as much as 5000 mg but everything i've seen thus far says that 3000 mg is the max out, so if anyone can help me out i'd be soo glad?!?! ~Cass

i've read through most of the postings of people on here.  I have a number of questions to ask.  First, for the time being, I am on 2000mg per day, 1000 every 12 hours.  I intend to have this increased today, based both, how I feel and on the dosages that some of you are on.  Among my questions to you, are any of you driving?  Have you completed and undergone the driving evaluation to put you back on the road, or is this not a requirement where you live?  Secondly, are any of you blind or are you having other problems leftover from whatever trauma you suffered?  I had a hemorrhagic stroke almost a year ago to the day.  And so far, each time I am on the doorstep of getting my driving privileges restored, I have a seizure.  I had two in about a one hour span on December 7th.  I so want to return to a normal life.  I have restored my body to my pre-stroke condition, yet these seizures are something else entirely for me.  Have any of you suffered injuries as a result of seizures?

My daughter has had one

My daughter has had one seizure 14 mos ago, 1000 mg since that time.  During a recent appt with her GP, doc asked if she'd like to get off K to which she agreed. A meeting with her new neuro (original neuro left kaiser) was scheduled to discuss this. The new neuro said she should be on 3000 mg but said it was up to her and would she email him her decision. She of course, said she would not want to increase her dose to which he threatened to have her drivers license suspended. He did drop the new dosage to 1500 but is now wanting blood tests. Currently, mulling options. Definitely leaving kaiser but have another 6 mos with this nazi.
