My daughter age 10, was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy 3 years ago. has recently been diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis. I am trying to find out if any other children with epilepsy have scoliosis. She is also really small framed. 4'4 and only weighs 45 pounds. Does this sound like anyone elses child? I am wondering if there is a connection. Would appreciate any info I can get thanks. Michele mom to Lauren age 10 and cody age 7,

Hello! My daughter was diagnosed to have epilepsy when she was 1 year old. She is 11 years old at present and taking her maintenance medicines for 10 years now. Early this year i saw that there is something wrong with her body. I found out that she also has scoliosis. The doctor advised her to wear boston brace 23 hrs a day and she is wearing it for 3 months now. I am also researching if it has something to do with her epilepsy because i read that some side effects of her maintenance meds would affect her bones. It would be nice if some expert would reply to ur inquiries here. Thank u for your time in reading this.

My 8-year old daughter was just diagnosed with both epilepsy and scoliosis. We believe she's been having seizures for years that were misdiagnosed as tics regardless of the family history of epilepsy, her dad and his uncle. Her scoliosis is just 2°. She also has a very petite frame. Her seizure meds are allowing breakthrough seizures. Has anyone found a correlation between these 2 conditions?

I know multiple people with the combination including myself. I think there is a direct relation. I am going to talk to my nuerologist when I go in. He may not know anything to help which my have me going into a 2nd back surgery to repair the nerve damage I suffered during my back surgery for scholiosis. I think it may be nerves being pnched due to the curving spine call me crazy but it itsnt impossible.
