seizures with periods

Had a few questions and didn't know if anyone could help.  Back in March I began taking Dexatrim diet pills.  I was fine for about 10 days and when I got my period, I had my first 2 seizures.  The first one happened around noon, my husband was home and he called for an ambulance.  They took me to the hospital, ran tests and discharged me around 5:30.  I came home and pretty much went to bed.  Around 1:00 am I had another seizure, my husband took me back to the hospital and they admitted me.  I was there for 2 days and they ran all kinds of tests.  Everything came back ok and the neurologist blamed the pills.  I didn't have any more seizures until last Tuesday night.  We went to an amusement park, I took a Dramimine around 11am.  We came home, I got my period, went to bed and around 5:30 am I had another seizure.  I called my doctor and the neurologist.  My doctor said to get the 6-hour EEG done.  I have it scheduled.  My neurologist called me last night and told me to get an EEG and MRI scheduled ASAP.  I am  in the process right now.  Didn't know if anyone had any insight.  I am a 36 year old woman, mother of 2 small children who never had any problems until March.  Thanks for any insight.

I'm 40 and was a late bloomer, didn't start my period until I was 18. But I had petit mal seizures since I was 8 and lo and behold, had my first Grand Mal 3 days before the start of my period. Every month since, when I'm ovulating, 3 days before it starts, and about 3 days after I have at least 1 grand mal each time. I've been SCREAMING at my neurologists for years that there has to be some correlation. Actually it wasn't even a neurologist that listened to me, it was my chiropractor. She suggested a progesterone cream to help with the hormonal changes during that time period. Said it works better than the birth control pills because it is a more direct approach. Not for birth control but for hormonal changes. I haven't tried it yet. She just told me yesterday because she is treating me for a back injury I received during this month's on slot of 5 seizures in a row. What my neuro. tells me is that there are triggers such as not enough sleep, stress, not taking your meds, diphenhydramine (benedryl), being sick, not eating, and being dehydrated. Sometimes I really think he just throws up everything he can pick so is to not have to make a decision on why I'm still having seizures. I've tried all kinds of meds. in all kinds of dosages and mixtures. I've even got the Vegal Nerve Stimulator implant. Still having seizures! Now, I don't mean a pity party. I have had some periods (no pun intended) in my life where I was having few enough seizures to work & even drive. I never heard of the Ativan for help with the seizures. I have a visit with my neuro next week...I think I will talk to him about that. That sounds like it might work for me! Thank you. And good luck. Hope anything I have said has helped.
