Have you considered applying for SSD Benefits? After a year of receiving SSD benefits, you will qualify for medicare, which you can use to get medication for epilepsy. Not sure where you live but some of these sites might help if you're in the US. http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/Search_HCC.aspx?byCounty=1 It's the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services site where you can find a health center near you. Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford, based on your income. Health centers provide checkups when you're well treatment when you're sick complete care when you're pregnant immunizations and checkups for your children dental care and prescription drugs for your family mental health and substance abuse care if you need it Health centers are in most cities and many rural areas Partnership for Prescription Assistance at http://www.pparx.org/ They can help you apply for RX assistance programs (i.e. drug companies will give you the meds for free, but you'll need a doctor to prescribe and complete part of the application) http://www.healthcare.gov/index.html Has a lot of options you can check, it's a federal government site to help you find health care options - including ways to get health insurance even if you've been denied for health reasons. Those are pretty general across the US...If you live in New Jersey you can call your local hospital and ask if they have Charity Care for outpatients and if they have a clinic you can go to. (Riverview and Bayshore both do, most NJ hospitals do). It will NOT cover prescription costs, but it gives you free or sliding scale fees on any tests the doctor orders, the cost of seeing a doc at the clinic, and usually the cost of any specialist you're referred to. You still get billed full price for some stuff, but it's certainly cheaper to make an appointment at the clinic than it is to wait for things to get bad enough for an ER visit and a few days stay in the hospital. Most states have Charity Care, so you may want to check where you live and see if that's an option. Every state and hospital varies as to exactly what Charity Care covers, so ask a lot of questions.
