can seizures be triggered by intercourse?
Tue, 05/10/2005 - 13:06My partner has what seems to me to be a seizure immediately after we have intercourse. He is 28 and says that it has been happening for about four years now. He is fully concious when it happens but he has no control of his muscle functions, and has a hard time speaking while it is happening. I have tried looking on google and yahoo for any help but there doesn't seem to be any mention of a kind of seizure that could cuase this. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. I am apparently much more concerned than he is, and I just needed to know if I am over reacting.

I have epilepsy and one time when I had sex I had a seizure. I could not control my muscles

Yes, seizures can be triggered by intercourse. This used to happen to me all the time. A neurologist I was see at the time asked me if it ever happened. Another neurologist told me hyperventilation will trigger the seizures. That makes sense because I sometimes have them on the treadmill, working in the yard or shampooing carpet
