Severe leg pain/tingling and seizures

Tue, 05/12/2009 - 08:49

I am at wits end for my daughter. Diagnosed 4 years ago. Have not yet found a med that works for her. Lately she has constant seveer leg pain/tingling. She has to get up and walk around saying Ow OW OW OW  till it subsides.  Yesterday she had 7 eposides - 2 of which went into seizures.  Today looks like another day of the same.  First leg feeling at 5am and again on bus en route to school. Has anyone had similar expereices?????

We are not getting anywhere with our docs.

Thanks.

oh my gosh! i thought my daughter was the only one. in fact tomorrow (thurs.) she is seeing her neurologist for the 80th time regarding leg pain. she is unable to go to work (sheltered workshop). this has been going on for at least 5 years and no one knows what is happening. when it occurs my daughter gets a very worried look on her face, she blinks a lot and rapidly and she has a very irregular gait if she can walk and sometimes she can't walk at all. i am beginning to think it is anxiety related or depression. it has become much more frequent since she has transitioned from school to work. my daughter is MR and can't really tell me much about her pain. please feel free to contact me.  ~karen

My daughter  is 16 also is developmentally delayed and cannot communicate very well.  She has been having leg pains and arm pains for 4 years.  She has epilepsy, but her last known seizure was in 2004.  We saw a neurologist last week and he is running some tests to rule out other disorders.  She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a toddler (She is adopted), but I think something else is going on with her.  She has great difficulty walking in her walker now.  She bends forward suddenly and falls or continues to hold onto the walker and hurts her shoulders as she hangs on.  I did not know seizures could cause pain until I looked in this forum.  I appreciate any insight someone might have that would cause my daughter's walking and pain to be getting worse.  Anytime she is sitting on a chair very high off the ground or in a vehicle, she is very anxious that she will fall...like she cannot depend on her muscles not to 'startle'  and fall off the chair.

I was on topamax for a while I had major tingling and leg cramps it hurt to touch my legs . Sometimes they would shake and jerk like they were seizing on their own. I also noticed muscular twitching which hurt after days of it doing it . It stopped when I changed meds. I don't know if it side effect or some muscular seizures like myoclonic . But I still get myoclonics an muscular twitches on new meds but they don't hurt at all .
