can seizures be triggered by intercourse?

Tue, 05/10/2005 - 13:06
My partner has what seems to me to be a seizure immediately after we have intercourse. He is 28 and says that it has been happening for about four years now. He is fully concious when it happens but he has no control of his muscle functions, and has a hard time speaking while it is happening. I have tried looking on google and yahoo for any help but there doesn't seem to be any mention of a kind of seizure that could cuase this. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. I am apparently much more concerned than he is, and I just needed to know if I am over reacting.

I realize this is a very old post, but I just want to say thank you.  I have been looking for information about this and only seem to find information about seizures causing orgasm, not the other way around.

I have had epilepsy for 18 years now.  Initially I had tonic clonics, complex partials and simple partials.  I now only have complex and simple partials.  Only within the past year have I started consistently having a simple partial after orgasm.  It happens almost every time.  It lasts a minute or so and then I'm fine.  Before finding this post I had never heard of orgasm being a trigger, so it's nice to know I'm not alone.

Hope you are all doing well :)

So my boyfriend and I are thinking about having sex but he's scared of me having a seizure during , so what do we do? Like some of his main concerns are if I do have a seizure does he continue ? or does he wait for the seizure to end and then continue? I dont want this to be the reason for our relationship to end. So what do we do? what do I do? I mean I had a seizure during an orgasm I had while experiencing oral sex granted I was awake for over 24hours , exhausted and at the end of my period which I know most likely played a factor in my seizure. I also found that was the first time I didn't have "seizure after shock" any advice?
