My daughter is 20 & has been having psychotic behavior since last September. In November they hospitalized her & took her off of everything but Kepra. They sent her home saying everything was fine. Then she began having pseudoseizures that were diagnosed as real seizures. They increased the Kepra(The Dr. said that there was no way that the Kepra could be cause her psychotic behavior.) She was finally hospitalized two weeks ago & they told me that as a mentally disabled individual she should never have been put on this med because she cannot express her feelings. She is being stepped off of Keppra & being put on depakote. In the mean time, she is biting herself, hitting me, & having many moments of mania.
I finally found a doctor that works outside of the box(with individuals that her not in the realm of sameness). He is very slow giving meds but he is working with a behavioralist & I am being paid to stay at home with my daughter so that I don't have to work. There are several programs out there that you can subcontract with & set your home up as a group home for your daughter & be paid by medicaid to work with her. You must have medicaid waiver for this to work. It is listed as hard to handle care under the IRS statutes. I was trained as a med aid, & other first aid. I already had plenty of experience...lol

zay's mom we have taken her off of keppra but the drs have her on topamax and lamictal. but she has still been having the pseudoseizures. the neurologists had me take her to psychiatrists who put her on zoloft and risperdal. the pseudos were under control for a week but they are starting again. she has started biting herself and others. she also is hitting and trying to hurt herself. now they want me to take her to a therapist. i dont know what is going on with my child. the drs say she is depressed but what can an 11yo be depressed about. well she started having seizures, my mom just finished chemo for breast cancer, my gma is terminal with colon cancer that has spread to her lungs and kidney. a little over a year ago we moved 700 miles from one state to another. and this past school year she changed schools where she left all her friends and is now the only girl in the class. but seriously is that enough to be stressed about. she wont talk about the stress she apparently having. i can not work when she is having these pseudoseizures because she can harm herself or others. in turn i am soo far behind in my bills. is there anyone who has any advice for me
