Food-Triggered Siezures

So I have never found a trigger my siezures beyond them occuring around my period...but I think I might be on to something. Maybe even something that might give me the origin to my seizures- since they haven't found anything on my CT scans or MRI. I went out for Thai food this week and last to a specific place. I had a small siezure right after eating both times. The first time I didn't think much of it since I was on my period, but it was my only one that week (odd, I didn't have more that cycle) but the second time I looked at my plate suspiciously. I had crab rangoon both times, but I had it once before at this place and didn't react so *scratch*... However, I recalled the number of times in the past four years that my seziues began at the dinner table. Some of my worst ones began at the dinner table. Could I have an allergy to something? Why would I not be reacting to it more often outside the time of my period? Some minor research does pull up that allergies are stronger during menstration. Could I be more predisposed to a reaction then when my seizure threshhold is lower as is? I'm going to have to keep track of what I eat now. Does anyone else have anything similar to this, or heard of it? Is it a possibility?

maybe sugar can have something to do or just plain junk food?? Years ago a gal told me her son had seizures cause of what her doc thought was too much sugar.

 I take a fish oil supplement daily. Fish in certain areas have high mercury readings cause of all the junk we have dump into the oceans and lakes. Sad but true......x

I've just recently read about the G.A.R.D –The Glutamate-Aspartate Restricted Diet which is an elimination diet, specifying definite foods (which includes food products and ingredients) that must be avoided.  Perhaps you can experiment with these...

Here is a line-up of the forbidden foods: gluten – commonly derived from wheat and grains…casein – protein found in cow milk (and most dairy products)…soycorn – including corn syrup and corn derivative products…MSG (mono-sodium glutamate) – a very common food ingredient in processed foods even though it is rarely clearly labeled as such…aspartame – commonly used as a sugar substitute…glutamate – found in high concentrations in most beans/legumes…and hydrogenated oils.

You'll notice that gluten, MSG (maybe from that Thai food?), soy and aspartame are definitely no-nos.  Perhaps this can help.

The G.A.R.D diet has absolutely changed the life of our epileptic PDD daughter dogtorj.net it was a Godsend a few years ago! If you have a child with Autism or seizures PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look into the glutamate aspartate restricted diet- it is a life changing. Also look into estrogen blocking foods and the great lists available there, I don't know what we would have done if we had not found that information. We were at our wits end and feeling hopeless, I was severely stressed and she had little quality of life. The GARD diet is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened in our lives, it's that powerful and effective for our daughter. She has definite glutamate, aspartate/casein sensitivity. Just because a label says "gluten free" or "no added msg" does not mean it is ok. No flavors or colors, gelatin, pectin, dried milk, cow milk or cheese, no flax, oats, dairy for her. Basically she eats potatoes, rice based products, low glutamate/estrogen veggies, fruits, lamb (pasture raised) homegrown free range eggs and can tolerate some goats milk. NO soy, wheat , gluten, legumes or beans or asparatate/glutamate rich foods. We are still tweaking it and finding her perfect balance but she is 90% better the last three years.
