i am on lamictal (5 years) and i have not noticed any problems with pain killers. i have not noticed any drug interactions at all. although i seem to remember that some antibotics that are also processed in the liver might affect how quickly the lamictal is absorbed.. but i never had any problems.

i found that if i took the meds in the morning i didn't have as much problem falling asleep. although i am now also on zoloft and i need to take the pills at night since the two make me too dizzy and blur my vision for me to take during the day. but the zoloft/lamictal combo at night makes me feel like i am floating after i take them and lay down, but no insomnia problems like with just the lamictal.

i don't know about depakote, never been on it. i do know that you can't have grapefruit juice if you are tegeratol...

good luck and hang in there. this site should be very helpful to you.

Hi There,

Yep, If you are on Tegratol you can't have grapefruit juice, grapefruit or anything with grapefruit in it (like juice mixes etc.)  My doctor explained that grapefruit affects how you metabolize tegratol (and other meds, my mom can't have it because it interferes with her blood pressure medication). I've been on it for more then a decade, so no grapefruit for me. Luckily I hate the stuff! I'd talk to your doctor/pharmacist for more information.
