can seizures be triggered by intercourse?

Tue, 05/10/2005 - 13:06
My partner has what seems to me to be a seizure immediately after we have intercourse. He is 28 and says that it has been happening for about four years now. He is fully concious when it happens but he has no control of his muscle functions, and has a hard time speaking while it is happening. I have tried looking on google and yahoo for any help but there doesn't seem to be any mention of a kind of seizure that could cuase this. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. I am apparently much more concerned than he is, and I just needed to know if I am over reacting.

I'm currently with a man ten years my junior...our sex life is wonderful and extremely intense...it's becoming more and more frequent for him to experience a seizure immediately upon orgasm...this is my first experience with seizures and it frightened me in the beginning stages of our relationship...he assures me that it's more frightening for me than for him...I'm attempting to learn more about what he's experiencing when a seizure strikes...do I have any reason to fear for his safety and physical well being?

Intercourse is very exciting. The fact that a person gets excited can cause a seizure. But that doesn't mean that a person with epilepsy should be precluded from such a wonderful experience.

Very strong orgasms seem to trigger quick seizures. Its happened since I was diagnosed four years ago. My partners have all know I have epilepsy but its kind of surprising the first time it occurs, and the very first time it happened it was kind of bizzare, I had no idea it would become a trend! It's ok. It has kind of become a joke, like "Wow, he was so good he made my whole body shake."
