Busy week ahead....

Due to lack of sleep trigger, I had a (several?) simple partial(s) last Wednesday. I'd woken up at 2:15 am and could not fall back to sleep. By 10:30am, I'd started to feel "that way" and called my doctor when my students went to art class a few minutes later. He was convinced that lack of sleep was the cause amd told me to take half a Keppra tablet. I'm still at the low end of Keppra dosage, and I'll probably see an increase when we resume Dilantin reduction at the end of October.

Well, it's 3:20 Monday morning and again,I'm wide awake. I have no trouble falling asleep each evening. It's remaining in slumberland that seems to be the problem. Normally, my alarm is set for 5am. I have a busy week ahead and hope that adequate sleep won't be an issue.

I'm teaching Monday, Tuesday and Friday of this week, with first full dress rehearsal for LaBoheme late this afternoon at 5pm. Tomorrow we sing while seated, offstage without costume. Wednesday, I have a substitute teacher in my class as we have our first dress rehearsal with student audience at 9:30 that morning. I'm skipping the teacher conference set for Thursday in order to take part in Thursday's dress rehearsal, also with high school students. Friday, I'll be back at school, and I'm not sure if Friday is a night off or if we'll be called to the stage once more. Then, finally, on Saturday and Sunday, we have our first performances for the public. The following weekend, unbelieveably , will bring us toward the end of October and our last two performances. Of the 4 acts, the Chorus sings in acts 2 and 3.

It's now 3:36am. Perhaps if I lay down I can grab a bit more quality snooze time. I'm going to need it.

Have a good week all.

Hey Anna,

I also take Keppra and have sleeping issues. I don't really sleep much at all which in turn causes seizures. I hope that you had fun at your show. sounds like it was lovely. Hope you finally get some sleep. Are you going from dilatin on to keppra and that is it??? I hope your partials have calmed down for now *hugs*

Sassy

btw Sorry for the random order of things.

SassyM...

Hi Sicilianna. I take keppra too and opposite of other meds I've taken it has not had the effect of making me sleepy all the time. It realy felt great not to have to sleep all the time however for a long time it affected me by waking through the night. Wide awake at times, ready to hop out of bed and start the day at 3 a.m. and such. I would just lay there hoping to fall back to sleep, eventualy I would but it happened a few times during the night. Along with some other effects it gradualy worked itself out and I now sleep through the night. One thing though, if I miss a dose or get over tired I'm guaranteed to have a seizure(simple partial). It is also very important to take it the same time everyday and the same way. I take it without food in the a.m. and after a snack in the p.m. Unlike other meds the effects wore off but not for some time and with each increase they were back. I'm completely adjusted now and it has been the best med I've ever tried. I'm hoping it works for a very long time and that you have the same result. Have a great day and with the busy time you have ahead, try to get some quiet time. Smiles and ciao!

Ciao Colina,
Thank you for your note. It seems that the simple partial experience is no longer as rare for me as it once was. Like you, lack of sleep seems to be the trigger. Today, Thursday, before the second act began, I felt strange again and decided to take half a keppra. It's been 8 days since the last time I did this. All went well.

I"m not worried, but I've decided to start noting the frequency of these. It's important to note any change. I'm planning to speak to my doctor next week anyway, so I would like to be as accurate as possible . My guess is, I'll be seeing a Keppra increase very soon.

Next Dilantin reduction should bring me down to 150mgs per day.

Getting there...
Anna
