TAKE CONTROL TODAYTuesday, April 17 was going to be the hardest-working/longest day of the show. I think I already had a pretty good headache going by 10 am. The volume of NAB show attendees on Tuesday was just incredible and the high level of visual distraction and even higher level of auditory distraction put me on edge for most of the day.
That aside, I think it was a very productive day. I saw almost everything I wanted or needed to see at vendor's booths' I'm interested in; which was a long list.
I think we left the show by 4:00 pm. When I got back to my hotel room, I was pretty run-down and was going to step into the shower stall but then remember the bathtub directly across from it.
I couldn't tell you the last time I took a bath was and I quickly de-compressed from the day in that 40 minutes. After that I took a nap and I believe Brian was hanging out by the pool at around this time.
Myself, Brian and one of the owners of the company for whom I work eat dinner at a fantastic place in the Venetian called David Burke. The ribeye chop was a home run. Dessert is (of course) creme brulee, but with a Vegas flourish. Five or six state-souvenir style shot glasses with different flavors of custard in each.
Brian and I cab it back to the hotel and hang out in a casino bar within view of the craps table. We share a drink and the I probably take the conversation to epilepsy and the recent past. I try not to get too down or monopolize the conversation. After this period, I go upstairs to my room to retrieve my pocket craps guide and change my clothes.
I observe the action at a couple of tables and zero in on one. I change $40 and keep my bets minimum and pretty much pass/don't pass and odds. Brian finishes his drink and tells me he's retiring and wishes me luck. After playing for about 45 minutes, I'm up $80 and am pretty tired...I think this is around midnight. I leave the table and should have cashed my chips in right there because the next morning I wake early and get coffee and fresh fruit. I also want to cash in my chips which involves walking past the craps table.
I lose $20 pretty quickly and then get out.
