4/20/07 cont.

On April 16, my boss Brian and I land no problem in Las Vegas and we're down to business right away. Cab to the airport check-in and drop the bags.
At Las Vegas Convention Center, during the registration component of the show they ask for my id and i oblige. Then somehow after the registration I no longer know where my wallet is...I'll spare you the gory details but involves me in a near-panic mode, filing an affidavit with the LVCC security/lost-and-found and receiving a phone call from them 45 minutes later saying my wallet had been turned in.
I love to be proven wrong when i assume the worst in people; but it wasn't looking good at the time. Some kind, Nation Association of Broadcasters convention-goer walking around LVCC found it and did the right thing.
This energized me enough to plow though at least one of the four halls at the convention until we left around five pm.
We return to the Hotel and I probably lay down and watch the unfolding events at Virgina Tech.
After trying to relax after this very bizarre Monday, I begin to prepare myself for a party being thrown by a German camera manufacturer, Arri; Arri's products compose a significant part of my company's inventory. The last time I was in Las Vegas for NAB in 2005 this Arri party was held at an authentic German beer-hall called the Hoffbrau Haus.
It was a great time, good fun, live music, good food and talking to industry-professionals of all kinds.
After the Arri party, Brian and I share a cab with a couple who are going to the Bellagio. Brian and I get a quick drink and I go to the sports book to place a $75 sports future bet; Boston Red Sox, world champs at 9/2.
After that I retire to my room and watch sports-center which is a lot of A-Rod highlights at which point i say to myself, out loud:
"it's a long season."
