This is my first time to post and have to admit that I have been eaves dropping on all of your wonderful comments and concerns for a couple of weeks.
I have had "brain zaps" all my life. Funny thing is, I thought EVERYONE had them! Guess I never bothered asking.
I was diagnosed EP 45 years ago. At that time there were only 2 types of seizures (that I was aware of); gran mal and petite. I had gran mal. Fortunately, I have not been on any meds for over 30 years, so I am quite sure that the "zaps" are NOT related to any meds. I am totally amazed at all the new information that has surfaced since the 70s.
I have other sensations that until recently thought were common to everyone. Sudden zaps in other parts of my body (ususally in limbs as I am falling asleep) sometimes when I am just relaxed. They are very short, usually followed by a tingle, and they have only caused pain a couple of times. I have come to ignore them but would guess that I get them nearly every day, sometimes several a day.
From reading all information posted on this site, I have also started to recognize other things that I have never given a second thought.
I should also tell you that I suffered a gran mal three weeks ago First time in 31 years. Have an appointment with a Nuero next week.
My Ep is so old the micro films of my records have all crumbled and my dear DR. died several years ago. The only "history" I can bring to the table is what I have been told or remember.
Have never had an MRI or CAT scan and my last EEG was 35 years ago.
Should be an interesting visit. LOL
Thanks to all that have shared their experiences. It's been a great help.
