Whenever a public figure is suddenly hospitalized, news stories full of facts, figures and quotes from medical specialists abound. The most recent example is Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass), whose emergency medical evaluation after a reported seizure triggered a flurry of media attention culminating in the sad news that he had a serious form of brain cancer.
