Cool Day for Second Grade

My boss is a great guy who likes to make things fun for our students.  Every now and then, he will give the kids a Dress Down Day as a means of celebrating a particular achievement or event.  For kids who have to wear uniforms to school each day, this is a big deal. When it became known that the NY Giants would be playing in this years Super Bowl, Mr. "J" declared January 25th to be a Sports Dress Down Day:  Students could dress in the clothing/colors of their favorite sports teams. It would be a nice end to a week of mid-term testing.

While I've got some nice progress to share, the last few days/nights have been a bit rough for me.

Ramble.....

Never have I felt a month arrive and escape the way this November did. In my mind's eye, I can see myself taking down the last of the Halloween decorations from my classroom and stapling each student's family tree project onto the Thanksgiving bulletin board which was on display by the end of November's first week. Before I left school Friday afternoon, I'd used the long, ancient window pole to take down the oversized autumn leaves which hang from our ceiling from early October until now.

Saturday morning calm..

It's Saturday morning and I'm feeling very relaxed indeed. Though waking up at 4:30am is far too early, I found comfort in brewing a pot of coffee, unearthing some of the Italian grammar books I've been ignoring since my return from Sicily and reading while huddled in the corner of my couch. I'm wrapped in my favorite brown sweater, that never fails to take the edge off the cold I always feel. Report cards have been signed, sealed and delivered.

Now that the final curtain calls for La Boheme have been taken, I've resumed Dilantin reduction as of today. I am now only taking 75mgs 2x daily, which means I'm down another 25 mgs per day. Keppra has not been increased, and the...

Due to lack of sleep trigger, I had a (several?) simple partial(s) last Wednesday. I'd woken up at 2:15 am and could not fall back to sleep. By 10:30am, I'd started to feel "that way" and called my doctor when my students went...
