Navigating the Changes in Our Epilepsy.com Re-Design

By Patricia Osborne Shafer, RN, MN

It has been a busy couple of months since we launched the site redesign that Warren Lammert, our Chairman and Co-Founder, has been talking about.

While we incorporated many of the requests we received from you, our community, we have been hearing that some users cannot find items and features that they wish to read. Readers tell us that:

  • Some features are in different places than with the previous site; or
  • There is so much good information that it is difficult to know where to begin.

Tips for finding your way

Here are few tips that may help to make it easier for you to find your way around the Community Forum.

First: Previously only the community section of epilepsy.com was called my.epilepsy.com. Now everyone who is a registered member of epilepsy.com will be a member of my.epilepsy.com! If you visit www.epilepsy.com, you will see the home page of the site – but all the features won’t be available to you until you register and log on.

Second, to find the my.epilepsy.com community, scroll down the left hand navigation bar and click on the third blue bar that says My.epilepsy.com Community. A menu will open up and you can click on the feature you want. Or double click on this link to open up the home page of the Community and read about each feature.

In my.epilepsy.com community, you can browse around, read about, or jump right in and get started on the following features:

  • Community forums
  • Groups – new feature and a fun one!
  • Blogs
  • Chat Room
  • People Stories
  • Resource Specialist
  • Community Calendar
  • Find People Like Me

The individual sections, such as the forums and blogs, were reconfigured a bit. Here is what to expect:

Blogs

You can now look at the most recent posting, the Top 10, or view all of them. The blogs are listed alphabetically by the user name.

Forum Topics

  • To find the Forum Topics, scroll down the right hand bar to view all the topic areas. When you open up a topic area, you can see the individual threads.
  • Read up on common interests and add your own thoughts and expertise! By the way, you can also view the latest forum responses by looking at the bottom half of the page.

I hope these tips help you find your way around the community. Please send in your questions and let us know what areas you would like to learn more about.

Thanks for being a part of the my.epilepsy.com community!
