New Genetic Research Company to Launch in 2016

The Epilepsy Foundation always welcomes the best minds and talents to developing new treatments and therapies for people living with epilepsy. We are pleased to learn about the launch in 2016 of Pairnomix, LLC, a new genetic research company. The company will be dedicated to helping individuals living with rare diseases by providing health care professionals with personalized information that enables them to better understand their patients' genetic conditions. Pairnomix’ initial focus is on advancing understanding for people living with epilepsy and other disorders of the Central Nervous System.

"Pairnomix offers the possibility of characterizing the genetic defect that causes a person's epilepsy and then doing testing to find a customized treatment for that particular person,” said Nathan Fountain MD, chair of the Epilepsy Foundation Professional Advisory Board. “This offers hope of an exciting change in the approach to treatment for some people with epilepsy."

Orrin Devinsky MD, director of the New York University Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and a founder of epilepsy.com, will serve on the Pairnomix advisory board.
