The goal of Athletes vs. Epilepsy™ is to bring about better awareness of epilepsy and the Epilepsy Foundation's mission to stop seizures, find a cure, and overcome the challenges created by epilepsy.
Pictured (L to R): U.S. Olympic hockey team member Chanda Gunn, Super Bowl champion Geoff Pope, high school athlete Jake Grunberg, and collegiate/professional swimmer Zach McGinnis.
The Foundation seeks to accomplish this through education, advocacy, and research to accelerate ideas into therapies through appearances and participation by athletes of all levels -- from little league to professional athletes.
The initiative is led by co-chairs Geoff Pope and Sam Estes with Chanda Gunn and Zach McGinnis serving as spokeswoman and spokesman, respectively.
Initially developed as TEAM ETP, the Epilepsy Therapy Project's race program, Athletes vs. Epilepsy™ offers athletes the opportunity to play or race and fundraise in support of accelerating new therapies for people living with epilepsy and seizures.
