Seizure First Aid Certification

One in 10 people will have a seizure at some point in their life.  Knowing how to help someone during a seizure can make a difference and save a life. While everyone should know basic seizure first aid, becoming Seizure First Aid Certified takes you further. During this course, you will learn how to recognize different seizure types and how to use seizure first aid for different types of seizures. You will also learn when a seizure is a medical emergency and 911 should be called. The Seizure First Aid Certification is a two-year certification and is designed for anyone that might come in contact with someone having a seizure, people that have a loved one with epilepsy and people that work with the public.

Law Enforcement Training

This course helps to increase the knowledge and awareness of public safety professionals who interact with those with epilepsy and seizure disorders. This helps to protect the health and safety of the epilepsy community, especially when they may not be able to respond to a law enforcement officer’s request. This program was designed for and with law enforcement officers, public safety officers, resource officers at schools, correctional officers, and staff members of law enforcement agencies. After completion of this training, law enforcement officials will be able to implement best practices for responding to epilepsy and seizures by prioritizing the well-being of individuals with epilepsy during emergencies, medical assistance, or other public safety situations.

School Nurses

Seizure Training for School Nurses: Caring for Students is a continuing education training program designed to provide the school nurse with information, strategies and resources that will enable them to better manage the student with seizures by supporting positive treatment outcomes, maximizing educational and developmental opportunities, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. Nurses can receive continuing education units.
